Traineeship

A traineeship (work placement, internship) abroad in an enterprise, a research institute, a laboratory, an organization, or any other relevant workplace is supported in any study cycle. The minimum and the maximum duration for traineeship is 2 months to 12 months. Wherever possible, the traineeships should be an integrated part of the student’s study program.

No bilateral agreement is requested between the sent Institution (HMU in our case) and the receiving organization for an HMU student to implement his/her traineeship period. The receiving organization can be:

  • a public or private, a small, medium, or large enterprise
  • a public body at the local, regional or national level
  • embassies or consular offices of the sending Program Countries (in our case the Greek Embassies or Consular Offices)
  • a social partner or other representatives of working life, including chambers of commerce, craft/professional associations, and trade unions
  • a research institute
  • a foundation
  • a school / institute / educational center
  • a non-profit organization, association, NGO
  • a  body providing career guidance, professional counseling, and information services

Guidelines for traineeship

The steps you should follow to participate in mobility for a traineeship abroad, supported by the Erasmus Program are the following:

  • All the paperwork should have been done one month before the departure date of the student
  • The student interests to participate in mobility for a traineeship abroad should find by herself the receiving organization where the traineeship will take place
    • Contact ex-colleagues of yours that have completed their traineeship abroad and ask them the contact details of the organizations theirs traineeship took place  (Option 1)

  • All the traineeships should be completed by the end of September (30th of September); e.g. in case that you have started your 6-month traineeship in June, in September (after 4 months) you should make a new statement for a 2nd traineeship for another two months

The HMU Departments are setting the rules when a student can start his/her traineeship. So please advise your Departmental Traineeship Coordinator when you can start your Traineeship.
