What are the ErasmusDays?

Launched as an initiative of the Erasmus+ French National Agency on the 30th anniversary of Erasmus+, #ErasmusDays consists of a series of bottom-up events organized by various Erasmus+ program players. Last year, 3 995 events were organized in 53 countries.

At the core of this international celebration is a simple idea: over three specific days, communicate about European values, the benefits of mobility, Erasmus+ projects results, and be visible to citizens, professionals, media, and policymakers

Hellenic Mediterranean International Relations Office (HMU IRO) Actions on the frame of the Erasmus Days 2020

The HMU IRO, the European University Consortium ATHENA, and EVM on the frame of the Erasmus Days 2020, the Capacity Building Project Innovative Education in Mathematics (iTEM), the Strategic Partnership Project Critical Skills for Electronic Engineers of 2020 (CRETE) will organize the following webinars:

  1. On the 15th of October 2020, An Introduction to 5G Communications: An Introduction to the public
  2. On the 16th of October 2020, Modern Trends in Mathematics Education

All the above webinars will take place remotely (ZOOM), are free of charge but request to be registered. All the participants will receive a certificate of attendance after the completion of the webinar have attended

Webinar in 5G Communications: An Introduction to the Public (15th of October 2020)

5G mobile technology envisaged revolutionalizing the human ecosystem and will be a catalyst for the transformation of the economy and digital society! It will provide un unlimited access to information and data at any time, anywhere by anyone and anything. 5G will have a tremendous impact on lowering energy consumption, improving the reliability of communication, flexibility to accommodate future unseen applications and creating an impression of ‘infinite’ capacity. 5G is considered the key enabler for the Internet of Things (IoT) as this new technology will enable the connection of many more devices.

This webinar is aligned with the educational actions of the Strategic Partnership Project ‘Critical Skills for Electronic Engineers of 2020’ – CRETE project (https://crete2020.chania.teicrete.gr/) and envisions to provide an Introduction to the Public of this technology.

Webinar in Modern Trends in Mathematics Education (16th of October 2020)

The majority of students in Europe and not only have not realized and appreciate the importance of Mathematics in explaining the real world and solving the most important challenges our civilization faces. To tackle this issue is of high priority to change / to modify the way we teach Mathematics: use real-life problems that can be tackled using fundamental Mathematics, employ during our lectures simulations that link fundamental mathematical parameters with measurable quantities, and employ modern teaching techniques that cultivate the soft skills requested in order to build ‘active’ learners.

This Webinar is very much aligned with the actions of the iTEM project (item.chania.teicrete.gr) and will provide a fast review regarding actions that address the aforementioned proposals.

The planned presentations target Math Teachers but also students that want to discover ‘ Why do we learn Mathematics?’
