ATHENA, a seven-university European alliance including HMU, promotes digital transformation, inclusive education, research, smart cities, layered materials, and gender equality in science through events, courses, and webinars.

Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) ranks 10th in Greece’s higher education institutions. HMU joins “Study in Greece” initiative, hosts international blended programs, and holds key international conferences and partnerships to boost global academic collaboration.

HMU expands internationalization: new Erasmus programs, ATHENA collaborations, hybrid International Week, intensive courses, US partnerships, online modules, and staff/student exchanges.

HMU earned the Erasmus Charter, expanded global partnerships, ran online symposia, collaborated with US and ATHENA universities, and promoted internationalization, research, and soft skills programs.

HMU’s International Relations Office hosted events like Sci-Cafe Talks, International Week, and webinars, promoting global partnerships, mobility, and research funding, fostering academic collaboration.

The ATHENA project, led by HMU, received EU funding for €7.5M to unify academic and research activities across seven European universities. HMU also collaborates with U.S. institutions under the IAPP Greece Initiative. Upcoming projects include Erasmus Week 2020, KA2 Erasmus projects, and more international partnerships. Dr. Gareth Owens reflects on 25 years of work at HMU’s International Relations Office, enriching both personal and professional experiences through international education and research.

Associate Prof. Konstantinos Petridis leads HMU’s International Relations Office, supporting Erasmus mobility, offering academic modules, and enhancing global collaborations, including participation in the ATHENA initiative.
